This Swine Life: Hog Named 6-7 Spared by Miami Dade County Leader.

Although not quite at the identical stature as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the mayor of Miami-Dade experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. Clemency is justified for her. Her criminal record is spotless,” Levine Cava said in a speech with obvious nods to the sheer volume of executive clemencies issued since the commencement of a current administration.

“Unless you count eating half a dozen apples per day,” the mayor added. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.”

The event, which both honors and questions the region’s Hispanic tradition of consuming swine during the holidays, was created to mirror the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The pig, donated by a first responder, was christened after the current slang trend of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – originating from a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The craze became so pervasive that a prominent word reference recently named “six-seven” its top term for the year.

A Future Secured

Six Seven the pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a countryside refuge “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the event’s official press release.

“This swine clemency has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the festive period,” said Eric Castellanos, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It embodies the spirit of Miami: vibrant, diverse, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Every time, we are delighted to mark tradition and kindness in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Guests enjoyed a meat-free selection of croquettes and cafecito as they toasted the swine's new lease on life.
